Swindon. Thursday 21 February

Although a lunar eclipse was forecast to be visible at 3am this morning we kept to the tradition of moon walking in the evening. Less traditional was the elaborate mission to do some guerrilla gardening around the HQ of W H Smith. Richard arrived early to check out the location and stock up with plants and collected Lyla, Jude and Kate from the train station. Our first walk was a matter of navigating ourselves to a comfortable seat in Pizza Express in Swindon old town. Onwards (via car) across the Magic Roundabout and to the industrial estate. Our second walk was scurrying around the bleak environs of Greenbridge Road in the shadow of the huge W H Smith complex while we planted a couple of roses, curry plants, yarrow and primulas at the base of their concrete greetings post. The police stopped to ask what we were up to but seemed convinced by my disguise as a Wiltshire farmer. The work was done before midnight and we returned to London in the early hours of Friday morning.
